From a financial perspective, initial evaluation and medical (involving medications, and other routine office calls) management may be provided through our sister organization, Associates in Dermatology. Associates in Dermatology has insurance relationships with many of the major providers. Fees for such services may therefore be submitted directly to a patients' insurance company.
The surgical care for HS may be more involved than that normally recognized by insurance carriers. In order to be able to provide the required quality of care, the Hidradenitis Suppurativa Institute does not have any formal relationships with insurance providers. We will be happy to work with all insurance companies, supplying a complete description of all services to be provided. After any procedure(s), we will also provide to them all details of the care given so that patients can be reimbursed by their plan.
We will be happy to help patients for precertification with their insurance plan; However, because of the time and material resources which are committed to perform surgery for HS, we ask that patients make payment arrangements before any procedures. Since the surgery is clearly not cosmetic, patients can expect to be reimbursed by their insurance plan afterwards. The extent of that reimbursement may vary with the insurance plan in question.
