September 2012: Dr. Hazen attended the 21st European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology Congress in Prague, Czech Republic. Combined with this meeting was the formation of a European division of the Hidradenitis Suppurativa Foundation (EHSF). Dr. Hazen was honored to represent the United States in the creation of this organization.
The European HSF Board will be chaired by Dr. Christos Zouboulis, with other officers to include Dr. Gregor Jemec, Dr. Ralf Paus, Dr. Jan Lapins, Hessel Van Der See, Dr. Nemesha Desai, Dr. Veronique Del Marmol, Dr. Thrasivoulos Tzellos, Dr. Thomas Winkler, Dr. Lennart Emtestam, Dr. Jurr Boer, Dr. Deirdre Nathalie Dufour, and Dr. Lukasz Matusiak. Europe’s HS Foundation seeks to work in conjunction with the US-HS Foundation in research efforts and patient advocacy.
