April, 2014: The HS Institute announced that Dr. Paul Hazen had transferred the position of President of the US-based Hidradenitis Suppurativa Foundation to Dr. William Danby, MD, dermatologist at Dartmouth Medical Center.
Dr. Hazen accepted the position of Immediate-Past-President and Board Member at the HSF Board Meeting in Denver Colorado. The Board was also pleased to welcome a number of new members to the organization, continuing to add new talents and geographic representation to the challenges of HS.
The Hidradenitis Suppurativa Foundation has continued as a nonprofit organization, representing the principal support organization for patients with this disease. Based in San Diego California, the organization was organized to serve the missions of patient, physician and community education, to the promote and support research for the condition, and to guide patients needing treatment.
The foundation was created in 2005 and ably directed by Michelle Barlow, Christos Zouboulis, PhD and Ralf Paus, MD until early in 2013. Dr. Zouboulis and Dr. Paus have continued their efforts within the European foundation while Dr. Hazen and others on the US-based Foundation will work closely with other HS Foundations in Europe, Australia and Japan. This marks an exciting time for the HS Foundation.
